Barcelona keeping tabs on Premier League trio, including Luis Diaz, for the summer

There is no doubt that Barcelona are bracing themselves for a busy window ahead, as the club look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season despite facing issues over Financial Fair Play regulations.

However, Catalunya Radio has dropped a bombshell report recently, suggesting that the club are looking for a new winger, and are ready to splurge big, if necessary.

In fact, as part of their plans to sign the winger, they are keeping tabs on players such as Son Heung-Min, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah. All these stars are ‘liked’ by the club, and could be options in the coming summer.

The three Premier League wingers command a lot of respect in the footballing world. Salah, in particular, is regarded as one of the top players in the world, with a track record of 178 goals and 74 assists in less than 300 matches for Liverpool.

Son, too, has been hugely successful for Tottenham and is one of their star players along with Harry Kane. Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen, the South Korean international has racked up 99 goals and 56 assists in the Premier League.

Even Diaz was a rising star at Liverpool last season, scoring six goals. Although the Colombian has struggled with a knee injury this term, he is still regarded highly.

Barcelona’s interest in these three stars, though, appear quite bizarre as the club are not in a position to spend much on players due to the FFP regulations. With the Blaugrana facing pressure to reduce €300 million from their salary budget, the idea of signing any of these stars is almost unthinkable.

That said, Barcelona are looking to sanction the sale of a host of unwanted players in the coming summer. One of them could be Ansu Fati, whose potential exit may hand the Catalans the economic firepower to orchestrate a move of such high magnitude.

But as things stand, the report should be taken with a grain of salt and it is quite probable that Barcelona’s interest may not develop into a concrete effort to sign any of the three players.
