Barcelona following two right-backs for the summer – report

Xavi’s Barcelona are rolling in the highest gear and could not have hit their best form at a better time. At this point, the men in garnet and blue seem capable of taking down even the very best in the world, but that does not mean that they are devoid of their own flaws.

Identifying that they should not get ahead of themselves, the Blaugrana management are looking actively for positions to reinforce in the summer. Unsurprisingly, the right-back situation is seen as one of the utmost priorities.

According to reports from Javi Miguel, Hector Bellerin’s continuity is not even seen as an option by the club. The Spaniard will leave at the end of his contract in June, and two players have been identified as possible replacements.

The Spanish journalist adds that Juan Foyth and Benjamin Pavard are the two options best places to reinforce the Catalan right-back position next season.

Foyth has been a revelation since his move to Villarreal from Tottenham Hotspurs and rejuvenated a career that seemed to have stagnated.

Injuries have limited his involvement at the club to just seven league appearances but has scored one goal and created two big chances during his limited time on the field

His signing will be a difficult affair for Barcelona as he has a contract with the Yellow Submarines until 2026. Further, his release clause is priced at a whopping €50 million.

Meanwhile, Pavard’s signing comes with its own set of complications.

The Bayern Munich man is not interested in renewing his deal at the Allianz Arena and will be available in the summer. However, he wishes to gain prominence as a centre-back and does not see himself as a right-back in the long run.

A third option on the Catalan radar is the return of Sergino Dest. AC Milan do not seem interested in purchasing the USMNT star in June, yet, it is also clear Xavi does not fancy his services.
