Youssoufa Moukoko has been the hot topic in the transfer market right now following his breakthrough in professional football this season.
The youngster has become a critical figure in the Borussia Dortmund attack, having scored six goals in the Bundesliga. His performances have been useful for the Bundesliga giants, especially in the absence of Sebastien Haller.
Needless to say, Moukoko’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with the forward being targeted by a host of clubs across Europe. Barcelona are no exception, with the La Liga giants reportedly eyeing a free transfer at the end of the season.
Barcelona have even been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Moukoko lately, as the player’s agent has denied any agreement with Borussia Dortmund over a new contract.
Indeed, Moukoko’s agent Patrick Williams has denied recent reports that suggest that Dortmund are closing in on a new contract agreement with the German ace.
“I can confirm that we are currently not closing in on an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign a new contract”, said Williams about Moukoko’s future (h/t Fabrizio Romano).
Williams added that Moukoko has been courted by a host of talented clubs across Europe and that there is room for him to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
“Moukoko is interesting for all the top clubs in this world. Even more so when he’s on a free transfer and has a future with the German national team,” he said.
Moukoko’s agent also denied Borussia Dortmund offering the youngster a contract worth €5/6 million per year. “No, the numbers are not correct,” he said.
Patrick Williams’ comments could serve as a massive boost for FC Barcelona, who are determined to sign Moukoko on a free transfer at the end of the season. The youngster, after all, could serve as an excellent long-term alternative for Robert Lewandowski and a future leader of the Barça frontline.
