Barcelona’s need for a new right-back has seen them get linked to several players in the past few weeks. And another name has now been added to the list in the form of Celtic and Croatia defender Josip Juranovic.
Indeed, as per reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, the 27-year-old Juranovic has emerged on the radars of Barça ahead of the January transfer window following his solid run of displays at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Juranovic joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw last year and has become a key part of the stable at Parkhead. Having impressed for the Scottish giants, the right-back put in some eye-catching performances in Qatar.
Juranovic made six appearances for Croatia at the World Cup, registering one assist. The 27-year-old displayed good attacking intent and crossing ability from the right flank while he also showcased his capabilities to win back possession.
The defender put in one of his best performances against Brazil, when he shackled Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. And his exploits have seemingly earned the attention of Barcelona
The Blaugrana have made it a top priority to bring in a new right-back in January, although they are yet to learn whether they can make new signings due to Financial Fair Play problems.
Several names such as Diogo Dalot, Juan Foyth, Arnau Martinez and Pedro Porro have been linked but there is still no consensus at the club over one player.
While Juranovic has also now popped up into the Catalans’ orbit, the report indicates that he is not very high on the list of targets at Spotify Camp Nou.
The 27-year-old is contracted with Celtic until 2026, but the report suggests that the Scottish giants could be open to a sale to make a profit. However, it does seem unlikely that Barcelona will make a move for Juranovic in January, with other targets on the club’s agenda.
