Barcelona offered a chance to sign 27-year-old Juventus midfielder for free next summer

According to SPORT, Barcelona have been offered the opportunity to secure the services of Juventus and France midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

Rabiot had been close to signing for Barça in the past when he left Paris Saint-Germain for free. However, in the end, the 27-year-old chose to join Juventus who had tabled a superior offer for the midfielder.

Since moving to Italy, Rabiot has not had the easiest of times with the Bianconeri going through a tumultuous phase on and off the pitch. However, the midfielder has redeemed himself this season and forced his way back into the France setup under Didier Deschamps.

In fact, Rabiot has been a permanent fixture in the centre of the park for Les Bleus at the FIFA World Cup 2022, helping them progress in the tournament, although he did miss last night’s semi-final encounter against Morocco due to illness.

Rabiot’s contract with Juventus expires at the end of the season and the 27-year-old is said to be ready for a new adventure in the summer.

There had been murmurs about PSG wanting to re-sign him but things between the two parties are still not fully okay following the manner of the midfielder’s exit in 2019.

It has opened the door for Barcelona, with the Frenchman now being offered to the Catalan giants on a free transfer next summer.

It is no secret that the Blaugrana are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements and Rabiot’s technical ability could make him a good fit as an interior midfielder at Spotify Camp Nou.

The report indicates that the 27-year-old would like to play for Barcelona despite having more lucrative offers from the Premier League on the table. He will not make a decision on his future until next month, however.

With Barça likely to lose out on one of their targets in Youri Tielemans, it will certainly be interesting to see whether they decide to take up the chance to sign Rabiot for free next summer.
