Youssoufa Moukoko has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in European football, thanks to his rapid rise to prominence over the past few months.
At the age of just 17, the youngster has become a crucial element in Borussia Dortmund’s attacking unit. He has scored six Bundesliga goals this season, which has proven to be crucial in the absence of Sebastien Haller.
Moukoko’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with a host of top European clubs interested in his services. Barcelona, too, are involved in the chase for the youngster, whose current contract at Dortmund expires at the end of the season.
According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona are aware of the fact that Moukoko himself is open to the opportunity of moving to Camp Nou next season.
The forward is yet to extend his contract at Dortmund and there is every possibility that he may leave the club on a free transfer. This could make him an excellent option for Barcelona, who are actively looking for cost-effective options in the market.
The report suggests Barcelona have mulled over the possibility of signing Moukoko on a free transfer, but the board is yet to decide whether or not they should pursue him in 2023.
Barça were primarily targeting a move for Brazilian sensation Endrick, but they appear to have backed out of the chase due to the youngster’s high valuation. Moukoko, to that end, is a far more appealing proposition for the Catalans.
However, luring the German international way from Dortmund will be far from an easy task for Barcelona. There are a host of other top clubs interested in the services of the teenage sensation while a prolonged stay at BVB cannot be ruled out either.
