Tottenham emerge as favourites in the race to sign Barcelona misfit – report

The future of Franck Kessie has emerged as a point of contention within the Barcelona camp in recent weeks.

With the former Milan star struggling with his life in Camp Nou, he has become a subject of interest for many top clubs across Europe. Many even expect Barça to sanction his sale in the upcoming January transfer window.

While there have been multiple reports refuting the same, it appears Kessie’s future at Barcelona is far from guaranteed and the player could leave the club sooner rather than later.

To that end, Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as one of the clubs in the driver’s seat to sign Kessie. This has been reported by Diario SPORT, who suggest that Spurs are joined by Napoli and Inter Milan in the list of clubs who have sounded out the possibility of signing the midfielder.

Kessie, for his part, is determined to continue at Barcelona and fight for a place in the side. However, he is not happy with his current role in the squad and it will not come as a surprise to see him leave Camp Nou.

Barcelona, though, are having double thoughts over the idea of offloading Kessie in January as it will not impact their wage structure too much. It is also fair to point out that most of the offers the club have received are mere loan advances.

But that is where Spurs stand out. Unlike other clubs, the English giants have vowed to include an option to-buy clause inside Kessie’s loan deal. This could turn out to be an interesting proposition for Barcelona, who have enough alternatives at their disposal and may afford to let go of the Ivorian in the near future.
