“It depends on what Messi earns,” La Liga president Javier Tebas said when asked about what Barcelona have to do to bring back Lionel Messi next year.
“I don’t know what Messi wants…firstly, that he wants to leave PSG, secondly that PSG let him leave and thirdly, it depends on what Messi earns, right? It all depends on those circumstances.
“And if all three are given and it is an affordable amount for FC Barcelona, which is within economic control, he will be signed. But everything will depend on what Messi earns. If it’s what he was earning when he left, no (he can’t return).”
So it appears that Messi might have to take a pay-cut to make a return to Barca next year, or else the club will risk even further sanctions from La Liga.
It remains to be seen if the Argentine forward wants to return to the Camp Nou next year, but he is currently focused on helping his side win the World Cup.
