Barcelona target open to renewing his contract with Bundesliga outfit: “I love the club”

Borussia Dortmund starlet Youssoufa Moukoko is a sought-after figure in European football right now, having enjoyed a breakthrough in professional football at the age of just 18.

He was also included in the German national team that is participating in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Moukoko is one of the most in-demand players in Europe right now due to his contract expiring at the end of the season, with Barcelona among the clubs interested in his services.

The 18-year-old recently broke his silence about his situation and offered a clear update on his future. He has notably indicated that he is currently in love with his life at Dortmund but hinted that he is open to leaving if the German giants do not offer the right project.

“I feel so comfortable at BVB, I love the club. I’d really love to stay at Borussia Dortmund”, he told RND (h/t Fabrizio Romano).

Despite being just 18 years old, Moukoko has featured in 59 matches for Dortmund. He has racked up 11 goals and nine assists in the process, with six of his goals coming in the ongoing Bundesliga campaign.

With Sebastien Haller unavailable, Moukoko’s services have become paramount for Dortmund in the attacking unit. The player himself appears to be happy at the club and has even labelled manager Edin Terzic as a father figure.

However, in order to prolong his stay at BVB, the striker wants the club to provide him with the right perspective.

“I want to understand what kind of project and perspective the club will offer me, it’s an important point,” he added.

Barcelona are among the clubs interested in signing Moukoko on a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, luring the German striker will not be a walk in the park, especially with Dortmund determined to extend his contract while the Catalans may also face stiff competition from other clubs such as Real Madrid.
