Luis Enrique hails Barcelona prodigy as ‘out of the ordinary’

Luis Enrique’s decision to run Twitch streams during the World Cup has allowed many fans to interact with the Spanish national team coach.

In one such stream, Enrique was recently asked about Gavi’s ascension to the team, especially after his blazing performance in Spain’s victory against Costa Rica.

Enrique spared no praise for the youngster, hailing him for his quality and maturity at the age of just 18.

“Gavi is not very normal, in fact, it is something out of the ordinary. We can all realize how difficult it is at that age to do what Gavi does. With his age, it is normal to eat pipes and not play football at that level,” Enrique said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Gavi was indeed one of the top performers for Spain in their opening victory against Costa Rica. The Barcelona midfielder not only scored a goal but also played a key role in providing the transition from midfield to attack

Gavi’s technical abilities were also useful in navigating through Costa Rica’s second line of press. As such, he was also praised by Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio, shortly after Spain’s 7-0 victory over Costa Rica.

The performance from Gavi against the North American nation could go a long way in helping him earn another start for Spain when they take on Germany, in what could be by far the biggest game of the tournament so far.

Gavi was not quite able to make an impression when Barcelona faced Bayern Munich earlier in the season. But this time around, the teenage sensation will have the opportunity to right. the wrongs by defeating a German side that is dominated by Bayern players.

A win against Die Mannschaft can not only help Spain move one step closer to sealing qualification to the knockout rounds, but it can also knock Germany out of the competition.
