Barcelona have set their sights on Ilkay Gundogan and could make an attempt to sign him in the winter market, Mundo Deportivo’s credible Ferran Martinez reports.
The German’s contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the season so he could be available at cut-price in January. However, Gundogan is a regular starter for Pep Guardiola and a mid-season exit seems unlikely.
If Barca can’t get the 32-year-old this winter, they’ll try to land him as a free agent in the summer.
Xavi likes Gundogan for two reasons. First, Ilkay can play both as a defensive and as an attacking midfielder. Second, the German international has an eye for the goal.
This term so far, Gundogan has recorded 2 goals and 2 assists in 20 matches (16 starts) for Man City.
