Barca set club record as 16 players called up for World Cup – we name them all

Mundo Deportivo report that a new club record has been set this year as 16 Barcelona players have been called up for the 2022 World Cup.

Here is the full list.

Spain: Eric Garcia, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Gavi, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati.

France: Jules Kounde, Ousmane Dembele.

Netherlands: Frenkie de Jong, Memphis Depay.

Germany: Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Uruguay: Ronald Araujo.

Denmark: Andreas Christensen.

Brazil: Raphinha.

Poland: Robert Lewandowski.

Barca loanees Sergino Dest and Abde Ezzalzouli have been called up as well, but they do not count here.

This beats Barca’s record from 2018 when 14 Blaugranas represented the club at the World Cup. Two of them became world champions — Dembele and Samuel Umtiti.

Not all national teams have confirmed their final squads for the tournament, but as things stand, no club will have more players at the tournament than Barca.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich will be represented by 16 players as well.
