Barcelona have set three transfer targets for the 2023 summer transfer window

Even though we are just three months into the new season, Barcelona appear to have kickstarted their plans to strengthen their squad further.

They have been linked with a move for various players ahead of the upcoming January transfer window. The club have still retained some of their finances to fund a move for a few players, though the majority of their transfer activity could come in the summer of 2023.

According to Fernando Polo (h/t Barça Times), Barcelona have already set out a proper outline for their transfer market activity in 2023, with the club primarily looking to target a few problem areas where they need reinforcing.

One of the areas is the right-back position. With Hector Bellerin’s progress being marred by an injury and Sergi Roberto struggling to perform, Xavi is in desperate need of a proper right-back. That is where the likes of Diogo Dalot and others come in the fray, with the Portuguese international reportedly offering himself to Barça recently.

Another area Barcelona are looking to reinforce is the defensive midfield position. The club are not satisfied with the performances of Sergio Busquets and the veteran is almost destined to leave the club at the end of the season.

This could pave the way for Barcelona to look for a new defensive midfield. The club have been linked with a move for the likes of Ruben Neves and Martin Zubimendi, to name a few, although it will come as a surprise to see the Blaugrana target a cost-effective option.

Finally, Barcelona want to reinforce their ranks in the attacking department. In fact, they are looking for a striker, which is a bit surprising considering the fact that Robert Lewandowski has started the season extremely well.

The Pole has racked up 13 goals in 12 league matches, breaking multiple records in the process. But Barcelona’s search for a new striker suggests the club are keeping one eye on the future, especially knowing that Lewandowski will be 35 by the start of next season.
