Kounde, Raphinha, de Jong react after Barcelona’s win over Valencia: “Great to have Lewa”

Barcelona left it late to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Valencia on Saturday night – a result that helps them maintain the pressure on Real Madrid and momentarily take a lead in the league table.

Shortly after the game, Barcelona players reacted to the win, with Frenkie de Jong notably praising Robert Lewandowski while Jules Kounde offered an update on the injury he sustained on the night.

Here are some of the excerpts from the Barcelona players, during the post-match press conference.

On the team’s performance and the result [Frenkie]: “I’m relieved. In the first half, we had some big opportunities. The second half was more difficult. Winning at the end was a big relief. The team was tired because of the scheduling and the number of matches.”

On Lewandowski’s goal [Frenkie]: “It’s great to have Lewandowski. He makes the difference.”

On Kounde and Eric Garcia’s injuries [Frenkie]: “I hope the injuries for Koundé and Eric are not serious. We need them for the next games.”

On the win [Kounde]: “We could have played better, but the important part is that we won the three points.”

On the injury [Kounde]: “I think it’s a muscle overload. I don’t think I have anything serious.”

On Valencia [Raphinha]: “Valencia are a great team. We have to respect them. But we were able to get the three points.”

On fighting for the league title [Raphinha]: “If we want to fight for La Liga, we have to keep fighting until the last minute of every match.”

On Barcelona’s prospects for the season [Raphinha]: “We will fight for the league and the Europa League.”
