The 19-year-old came on as a sub around the 60th minute and he completely changed the game. A backheel assist to Dembele, a pass to an open goal to Lewandowski and a goal later on, Fati was the key reason Barcelona were able to overcome an intense Real Sociedad tonight.
Ansu took all the right decisions upfront and then proved useful in defence at a later point in the game.
Robert Lewandowski – 9
A world-class finisher, Lewandowski took advantage of his two big moments tonight. Intentional or not, he also provided the assist to Ansu. Besides, Robert would often drop back to help in build-up when the team struggled the most. A great performance overall for him.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen – 8.5
If not for his mind-blowing saves in the first half, the three points at Anoeta would have been impossible. Ter Stegen looked like his peak self again, saving shots from inside the penalty box and distributing the ball with accurate precision.
Andreas Christensen – 7.5
The unsung hero tonight, Christensen had a solid performance. He played in the middle of Barca’s backline and was responsible for starting our attacks, something he did perfectly. Defensively, Andreas looked great as well as nobody could get past him
Alex Balde – 7.5
A top performance from the youngster who got to cover all of the left flank tonight. Balde provided the assist to our first goal of the night, proving that he is a threat upfront. Alex did a good job in defence as well, backtracking like he had an extra pair of lungs.
Frenkie de Jong – 4
De Jong is not used to the lone pivot role and we got to see that once again. Frenkie was poor under pressure, lost quite a few balls (one of which led to a goal) and was often caught out of position. Perhaps the coach should’ve taken him off earlier than he actually did.
Others: Araujo 7.5, Garcia 7, Gavi 6.5, Pedri 7.5, Ferran 5.5, Dembele 7.5, Raphinha 7.5, Alba 6, Roberto 6, Kessie 6.
