FC Barcelona are staring at a busy month ahead as they look to sanction the sale of all their fringe players before the transfer market comes to a close.
Martin Braithwaite is among the players facing immense pressure to leave the club after falling out of favour at Camp Nou.
A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered an update on his future, suggesting the club are ready to “go to war” with the forward after he refused to consider any offers from other clubs.
It is apparent Barcelona want Braithwaite out of Camp Nou. The club are even prepared to offer him a letter of freedom in order to help other sign him up on a free transfer. But the attacker has so far refused to leave.
Braithwaite had received appealing offers in the month of July, but he did not consider any of them. He even rejected the opportunity to gain a freedom letter that would make him a free agent in the summer.
The player’s actions have now frustrated Barcelona, and it has come to a point where the club are prepared to seek retaliation.
As part of their revenge plan, Barcelona are considering terminating Braithwaite’s contract on the final day of the transfer window, as it will make it difficult for him to find any other club.
The Catalans are also studying the possibility of legally avoiding paying the compensation, in the event of Braithwaite’s contract termination. Although such an option appears to be unlikely, the club are determined to take up this matter aggressively.
Braithwaite has scored 10 goals in 57 competitive appearances for Barcelona. His current contract at Camp Nou expires in the summer of 2024.
