Mundo Deportivo’s reliable Fernando Polo reports that Sergio Busquets and his representatives are waiting for a written proposal from Barcelona regarding the salary readjustment.
It’s said that the captain won’t have his wages reduced. Instead, it will be a salary deferral. This is still enough for the club to be able to register the new signings.
Usually, such agreements come with a contract extension. However, Busquets has ‘no intention’ of continuing at Camp Nou beyond June 2023 when his current deal expires.
As per people within Sergio’s entourage, the midfielder could have left Barca already if not for the World Cup being played in November this year. The 34-year-old plans to leave next summer, with Inter Miami as a possible destination.
