Barcelona ready to trigger fourth lever to sign three players

On Monday, Barcelona activated their third economic lever by selling a 24.5% share of Barça Studios to socios.com for a sum of €100 million. This move is expected to help the club take care of player registration for new signings this summer, amidst concerns that the Blaugrana might have difficulties in doing so.

In the immediate aftermath, the Blaugrana could now be primed to sell another 24.5% of Barça Studios imminently, in the process, activating the fourth economic lever, reports Victor Malo.

The Catalans had received approval from the assembly to sell a 49% stake in Barça Studios, of which they sold 24.5% on Monday.

And according to the journalist, Barça plan to part ways with the remaining 24.5% of the club’s audiovisual wing imminently for the same €100 million price as they did earlier this week, through which they could plan to bring in three new players to the club.

Unlike last time, though, they will not sell them socios.com, but instead, look to strike a deal with a company from the audiovisual sector.

The funds raised from the activation of the fourth economic lever would likely be used to bring in three more players by the Blaugrana, adds Victor Malo.

They have already made several top signings, but manager Xavi Hernandez is still keen on more additions to the roster, starting with a new right-back and left-back, along with another midfielder, provided Frenkie de Jong leaves.

Barcelona have already identified their priority targets for each position, with the club lining up moves for Chelsea duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso to reinforce the full-back positions, while Bernardo Silva remains the top target to strengthen the midfield.

The activation of the fourth economic lever, coupled with the potential sale of de Jong, would enable the club to sign and register the three players. However, it remains to be seen if they take this path or decide that they are content with the business conducted so far.
