Lionel Messi closes in on Dani Alves’ record after winning 41st career trophy

Lionel Messi helped PSG start their season perfectly with a 4-0 win over FC Nantes in the Trophee des Champions game on Sunday.

In doing so, he won the 41st trophy of his career and moved closer to being the most decorated player in the history of football.

Dani Alves currently holds the record for most trophies won by a player, having won 43 titles in his career.

But Messi is inching closer to dethroning his ex-Barcelona teammate and taking another achievement for himself.

The Argentine will hope to help PSG dominate Europe this season as well as win another Ligue 1 title to improve his trophy count.
