In a shocking twist, it has been reported by ARA that Barcelona are open to selling Ousmane Dembele next year, even in the winter market if a good offer arrives.
The report states that the Dembele’s new contract – a renewal until 2024 – was designed in such a way that it allows Barcelona to conduct business for him in the coming windows.
He was given only a minor extension, with a huge salary cut, so offloading him will not be a problem if push comes to shove. The signing of Raphinha for nearly €58 million proves the same.
Dembele’s buy-out clause stands at just €100 million for the next two years. Should he stay injury-free, that is a huge bargain for a player of his quality. Especially considering that he was among the top creators in Europe last season despite playing just half a season.
“If an offer arrives, we will evaluate it, of course. It will depend on the price, but the player and team’s circumstances will also be taken into account,” a source inside the club has told ARA, apparently.
All said and done, the Frenchman has definitely made a statement this pre-season, scoring four goals in as many matches. He has looked sharper than ever, and it seems the competition with Raphinha is fueling his desire even further.
