Rumours about Chelsea’s interest in Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries have re-appeared, with reliable David Ornstein saying the Blues are still keen on signing the Dutchman.
Football analyst Ryan Gunness has shared his opinion on the 26-year-old, having watched him play at Inter quite often.
“Tactically, Dumfries meet the exact profile TT [Thomas Tuchel] prefers at WB/FB,” Gunness writes on Twitter.
“Someone who can go 1v1 with power/pace in advanced wide winger positions. Having that profile at WB, engages the opposition’s FB and allows a player like Mount at RW to drop into the pockets with more freedom.
“Just want to add, I’ve watched him quite a lot at Inter (as I write on them often), and his
Link-up play with Skriniar, Barella & their RW is top notch, together with his • Ability to take on players/run in behind into dangerous shooting/assisting positions.
“Furthermore, his defensive skills and end product is not a problem at all for me. I think people just see others’ comments and run with it without actually watching the player.
“I think he’s a proper player.”
“I’ve watched him quite a lot as I have written many Inter articles, and he has always been one of their best players IMO,” Ryan added.
