Barcelona extend the contract of La Masia talent until 2024, want him to leave on loan

With just a few weeks before the new season gets underway, Barcelona are expected to offload a host of players in the near future.

While the likes of Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong and Oscar Mingueza have dominated the headlines in recent weeks, another player in contention to leave Camp Nou is Alex Collado, albeit on a loan deal.

This has been reported by Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish news outlet suggests Barça have reached a fresh agreement with Collado over a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2024.

However, Barcelona have refused to officiate the agreement, for the time being. The club believe a loan deal away from Camp Nou could be the right step for Collado, as far as his progress is concerned.

The former Sabadell youngster spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Granada. But his hopes of making a breakthrough in the Barcelona team remain feeble, especially after the club opted to bring in a host of new players, including Pablo Torre, in the summer.

Pedri and Gavi’s rapid rise to prominence cannot be understated either, while Xavi is also ready to bank on the services of another academy graduate, in the form of Nico Gonzalez.
