It has been suggested that the Argentine could return to Barca at the end of the 2022/23 season on a free transfer now the club’s finances are in a better state.
Fati, a bright attacking prospect at Camp Nou, replaced the legendary 34-year-old as Barcelona’s no.10 at the start of last campaign.
At the time, the Spaniard said: “It’s true that the jersey has been worn by Leo and many players but I’m calm. I know what I can bring to this team.
“For me it’s not a pressure. No one is going to be like Leo. No one is going to equal what Leo has done. I’m going to follow my own journey.”
