Barcelona have so far played four games in preseason, winning two and drawing the rest.
Let’s look at the players who have impressed Xavi, and Barca fans in preseason, and those who have failed to do that.
Impressive players
Inaki Pena. The goalie has so far shown Xavi that he can truly backup Ter Stegen ahead of Neto.
Ronald Araujo. The beast has been unleashed. What a performance he gave against Real Madrid.
Miralem Pjanic. The midfielder may have convinced Xavi not to offload him.
Pablo Torre. The teenager showed flashes of brilliance in the first game of preseason.
Memphis Depay. The Dutchman has shown his brilliance once again.
Raphinha. The Brazilian has showed why he deserves to play in a team like Barca.
Ansu Fati. The teenager seems like he’s back to his best.
Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman is Barca’s topscorer in preseason with 3 goals.
Unimpressive players
Abde Ezzalzuli. His lack of performance may force Barca to offload him.
Frenkie de Jong. The midfielder has been struggling in pre-season, but he’s being played in defence.
Sergi Roberto. Xavi may not have a place for the Spaniard this season given his woeful performances.
Too early to judge
Robert Lewandowski. Let’s face it, the goal machine hasn’t scored after two games. But hey, let’s wait.
We must add that some players are yet to feature in preseason like Ferran Torres who has been injured
