While Barcelona close in on the capture of Jules Kounde from Sevilla, they swiftly need to start working on getting rid of the unwanted players from the squad.
One such player who has been deemed out of favour and has been asked to find himself a new club is backup goalkeeper Neto. The 33-year-old has been at Camp Nou for three years but has hardly gotten a regular run in the side, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen ahead of him.
The Brazilian has been pushing for an exit for some time now and will get his wishes fulfilled this summer, with Xavi ready to entrust Inaki Pena with the role of the second-choice goalkeeper.
As for Neto, he is on the lookout for a new team after being left out of the pre-season trip to the US. A move to Celta Vigo seemed likely until he backed out of the transfer.
However, he still has suitors in the market, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that the Barcelona goalkeeper is a transfer target for Serie A side Napoli and newly-promoted Premier League club Fulham.
Napoli are in the market for a new shot-stopper following the exit of David Ospina. They are looking for a new No. 2 for Alex Meret and have been offered the chance to sign Neto from Barcelona.
The Partenopei are seriously considering the prospect of signing the former Juventus and Fiorentina goalkeeper, and have started contacts with his representatives about the transfer.
However, they will face competition from Fulham, who are keen on adding an experienced goalie to their ranks ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Neto is a player that Fulham manager Marco Silva admires and had tried to sign previously at Watford. So, they are firmly in the race for the 33-year-old Brazilian after being priced out of a move for Arsenal star Bernd Leno.
It will be interesting to see whether Neto returns to Italy or takes up a fresh challenge in England as an exit from Barcelona looms large.
