After the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal, Thomas Tuchel was asked about Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal.
The German’s response was quite spiky: “Listen, it’s the same players, so why should anything change?
“We will see hopefully development but at the moment, we have the same issues because we have the same players.”
These are not all the same players, to be absolutely correct. Raheem Sterling, the player who scored more Premier League goals than any Chelsea player over the past few years, played 45 minutes but could not find the net either.
It does look like Tuchel believes it’s not enough, though. The Blues have clearly prioritised strengthening the defence this summer, but there are big issues at the other end of the pitch too.
